Julie Pauline is a professional photographer based in South Florida. With over a decade of experience she specializes in event, documentary, and travel photography. Born and raised in Miami, Julie grew up with an appreciation for the arts, music, culture and travel, and she loves to share her experiences with others.
Julie attended Miami International University of Art and Design, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography in 2015. While studying, she interned as an in-house photographer for music promoter company POPLIFE Miami, capturing concerts at former music venue Grand Central in downtown Miami. Afterwards, she continued to intern as an event photographer for media outlet South Florida Nights Online Magazine, providing media coverage for high profile and exclusive events including charity galas, fashion shows, film festivals, and VIP performances.
In 2016, she began working as a commercial product photographer for Dover Jewelry and Diamonds, a high-end antique, vintage, and estate jewelry company. For over a year, she worked in-studio producing images for their E-commerce auction and also contributed to their website and marketing campaigns.
In 2017, she joined local film production company D’Vision Motion Pictures (formerly D’Vision Indie Films) and assisted with the creation of projects such as short films, music videos, commercials, discussion panels, actor audition tapes, and promotional content for local businesses. Her curiosity for film production led her to experiment with various production roles; from being a production assistant, to a videographer, and even as an Assistant Director of Photography for certain projects.
She was part of the production team for the company's 2018 short film "Happy Anniversary", written and directed by founder and creative director Andres Sarmiento. She has also worked alongside director Steven Salgado on the set of his 2018 short film "Chicos".
Aside from photography, Julie also freelanced as a second and third videographer for weddings along the Gulf Coast of Florida.
She spent time volunteering abroad in Europe, assisting with wildlife conservation and public education. During these programs she began to develop her passion for creating documentary work, focusing on video as her media of choice. Her passion is creating documentary style photography and videography of her adventures and the people she meets, whether at home or across the ocean.
In 2020 she was interviewed by VoyageMIA for their Shoutout Miami series, where she shared a little bit more about her time abroad and taking risks, both in work and in life. In 2021 she was interviewed by VoyageMIA again for their Inspiring Stories series.
As of 2023, Julie currently works as a photography assistant for the Media Services Department at Miami Dade College North Campus. She works as an on-campus event photographer and as a social media content creator, contributing to the MDC North Campus Instagram account. Her work has also been featured in publications such as the Miami Dade College Forum Newsletter and for use on the North Campus website. You can view their collaborative work at @mdcnorth.
